Questa foto della galassia M51 e della sua compagna NGC 5195 è stata scattata il 4 maggio 2008 dal Monte Amiata (GR) al fuoco diretto di un telescopio Takahashi TSA102 con riduttore di focale a f/6,3 su montatura Gemini G41 obs e FS2. L'esposizione è la somma di solo 5 frames da 12 minuti ciascuno con la Canon EOS 20D settata a 800 ISO, è stata effettuata con autoguida SBIG ST-4 e  rifrattore 120/600 in parallelo. Purtroppo la nottata è stata molto ventosa per cui la foto risulta un po' mossa. Successivamente i frames sono stati sommati con Deep Sky Stacker e Registar, è stato sottratto il dark, applicato il flat e processate mediante applicazione di uno stretching, maschera sfocata e bilanciamento dei colori. This photo of the M51 galaxy and the neighbour NGC 5195 was taken on may 4, 2008 from Amiata mount, in Italy, near Grosseto, at the prime focus of a Takahashi TSA 102 telescope with reducer at f/6,3 using a Gemini G41 obs mount with a FS2 controller. The photo is the sum of only 5 frames of 12 minutes using a Canon Eos 20D Digital camera at 800 ISO and they were taken with a SBIG ST-4 autoguide on a small refractor 120/600 becuase the night was very windy and therefore the photo is few blurred. Then I summed the frames with Deep Sky Stacker and Registar, subtracted the dark, applied the flat, and processed the file with a stretching, an unsharp mask and, last, a color balance.
